Elexicon partnered with Spectrum Health’s PR & marketing teams and video production vendor to create Spectrum Health TV, an online series of helpful interviews with medical experts on a variety of topics. New videos and channels were just released today … thought we’d share.

We need to take a moment to recognize the 1-year anniversary at Elexicon for Naima Seales and Calvin Chopp! We also need to slightly belatedly recognize Amy Nobach for 8(!) years of outstanding service and still going strong.

Which also means … hey! Look what month it is! Elexicon its very self turns 9 this month. Happy birthday to us, and thank you to all our clients, friends, family, and team members past and present who have supported us. Double digits here we come!

The Spectrum Health Foundation and Helen DeVos Childrens Hospital Foundation web site won a Platinum Award for Best eBusiness Web Site from Strategic Health Care Communications. Elexicon provided the creative direction for the site and teamed with Spectrum Health and NuSoft Solutions to develop the site for the Foundations.

Just a couple weeks after the FAA announced that passengers would no longer be able to carry on a spare Lithium-Ion laptop battery due to fire and explosion hazards, a company called ZPower Inc. is making a big splash at the upcoming Consumer Electronic Show in Las Vegas. ZPower is the innovator of a high-performance, environmentally friendly, and fire-proof Silver-Zinc battery technology.

This is “something cool” to share on our blog, and it’s doubly cool for Elexicon because we designed their corporate identity, web site and marketing communications for Camarillo, California-based ZPower, working with Harnett Marketing in Kettering, Ohio.

Well, every week is typically pretty good here at Elexicon but this one stood out quite a bit. On Monday we welcomed two new team members, Naima and Calvin. Then, later in the week we learned that our design work on the Spectrum Health web site won several 2007 Greystone.Net Best in Class Awards and 2007 eHealthcare Leadership Awards. (What’s the big deal you ask? If you have a health care system web site trust us, it’s a big deal.) Of course, our design work was given a tremendous boost from our amazing client team within Spectrum Health. Can’t wait ’til next week!

I’m pleased to announce that the Cancer and Hematology Centers of West Michigan, P.C. has chosen Elexicon to design and develop its web presence to better serve their customers and align with their upcoming move to a brand new facility in downtown Grand Rapids.

Okay, last week I received no fewer than five e-mails from friends and colleagues inquiring whether I was alive and checking to ensure that my family is in good health. Elexicon has been getting busier and busier and growing faster and faster, so over the past couple years I’ve needed to send a few “sorry I’ve been swamped” messages (I hate that word, Swamped), but this week was a little out of control. I want to let everyone know that I am happy and reasonably healthy (need to give the ol’ blood pressure another check and find more time to exercise) and so is my family (just became the proud uncle of twin nieces; Paula and the boys are fantastic and supportive as always), and I sincerely appreciate the combination of concern and patience.

So no, it’s not the Will Ferrell-in-the-Austin Powers movies style of “I’m still alive!” With these growning pains comes a lot of excitement for Elexicon. We’ve launched major initiatives for our largest, longtime clients and we’ve become engaged with some terrific new customers, as well. We’ve added two new team members this summer and we’re looking to hire more, so check out our job descriptions to see if you might be interested in coming aboard!

Elexicon will continue developing online Help and technical marketing materials for X-Rite, Incorporated in 2007. We were awarded two new projects supporting the company’s color quality and management software products. In 2006 we were recognized for our X-Rite ColorDesigner Easy Reference tool with an award from the Society for Technical Communication.

Elexicon recently created a slick media player for Harris Corporation. From a quick Flash presentation on their home page featuring customer testmonials, you can link to a page that launches a Flash-based “media center” featuring extensive interviews with all five customers. We’ll be rolling out audio-based podcasts soon in a similar format. We think it’s an elegant way to deliver this kind of content, and using XML, maintenance of these video players is going to be extremely efficient.
